It is permissible to take treatment if you are sick. This is not contrary to Tawakkul. Because tawakkul is the belief that the means are God's creation and that they work by God's command. So we have to rely on Allah for the result. If God wills, healing will come, not otherwise. In the hadith, there is a cure for every disease. When the disease is treated according to the command of Allah, the cure is obtained. Some of the hadiths related to this are presented below. Hazrat Abu Darda Ra. Narrated from, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, Allaah created diseases and medicines and He also created cures for every disease. Therefore, take treatment. - Sunan Abu Dawood, Hadith: 364 Hadrat Usama bin Shuraik said: Some of the desert dwellers asked the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), "Shall we take treatment when we are sick?" You take treatment. - Jame Tirmidhi An Ansari Companion said, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) went to see a wounded man. Seeing this, he said, call a doctor of such and such tribe for him. - Musnad Ahmad 5/361 Hazrat Abdullah bin Abbas. He said that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) blew the trumpet and gave special medicine to the nose to cure the disease through sneezing. - Saheeh Bukhari, Hadith: 5791 There are also many more hadiths.
