Question
Local Muslims are confused about the direction of the Qibla in North America. For a long time, the Muslims here have been following the Qibla to the southeast. This dilemma started when some people started calling the opposite north-east side Qibla. I am a former officer of Bangladesh Air Force. It was my special responsibility to determine the direction. I am currently based in North America. In light of past experience, I think it is wrong for the North American Qibla to be in the Northeast. But the local Muslims are suffering in this regard. The wise Mufti will guide you with the right decision in the service of Kiram. 8597876146

قال الله تعالى: {قد نرى تقلب وجهك في السماء فلنولينك قبلة ترضاها فول وجهك شطر المسجد الحرام وحيث ما كنتم فولوا وجوهكم شطره} - (سورة البقرة: 144) The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: What is between the East and the West? On the authority of Abi Hanifa, may God have mercy on him: the Qiblah of the East, the Qiblah of the people of the West, the Qiblah of the people of the East, the Qiblah of the people of the North, and the Qiblah of the people of the North, From the above verses of Hadith and the principles of Imam Azam Imam Abu Hanifa, it is clear that Baitullah Sharif is the Qibla for all those who are praying directly in front of the Baitullah. And for those who are staying away from Baitullah Sharif, Baitullah Sharif is not a direct qibla. Rather, the direction of Baitullah Sharif is Qibla. In their prayers, it is obligatory to turn towards the Ka'bah. So those who are located in the northern part of Kaaba Sharif have their Qibla on the south side and those who are in the southern part of Kaaba Sharif have their Qibla on the north side. Similarly, those whose abode is in the east is their qibla on the west side and those whose abode is in the west are their qibla on the east side. The Qur'anic verses on how to know the mentioned aspects- وَعَلَامَاتٍ وَبِالنَّجْمِ هُمْ يَهْتَدُونَ He has created many signposts and people find their way through the stars. (Surat an-Nahl: 16) وَهُوَ الَّذِي جَعَلَ لَكُمُ النَّجُومَ لِتَهْتَدُوا بِهَا He created the stars for you. So that you may be guided in the darkness of the land and the sea. (Surat al-An'am: 96) The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: The choice of worshiping God is for those who worship the sun, the moon, and the dark stars for the remembrance of God. The verses and hadiths in question prove that Allah has made the moon, the sun and the stars the means of determining the direction. For this reason, the ummah of Hazrat Sahaba Kiram and Aqabir used to take the help of the mentioned patterns and means in determining the direction of Qibla in a city far from Baitullah. It is very easy for Muslims of all walks of life to determine the direction of Qibla on the basis of the above external indications. انا امة امیة لا نكتب و لانحسب (Mishkat Sharif, 164) From this hadith it is also understood that in determining the direction of Qibla, one should rely on the above obvious signs. Excluding them, geometric calculations and the image behind the instrument are contrary to the image of Shari'ah. In this regard, it is also known from the time of the ulama that whenever the direction of the qibla determined by geometric calculations or instruments seems to be contrary or different from the qibla determined on the basis of the simple principles of the Shari'ah, the first qibla is considered rejected and the last qibla is finalized and accepted. The qibla, which is based on the famous account of Amr ibn al-'As in the mosque of Umayya in Damascus and in the mosque of Egypt, is a little different from the old qibla. However, the old Qibla is still being followed. The qibla determined by Egyptian President Ahmed bin Touloun by geometrical calculations was somewhat different from that of Amr ibn al-Asr in the mosque. The ulama 'have declared that following the Qibla is the best of the Khilafah Awla. (Zawahirul Fiqh, 1: 260) In essence, the Qur'an-Hadith and the practice of the ulama 'prove that the Shari'ah is based on the rough directions of the moon, sun and stars, etc., in determining the direction of the Qibla in a city far from the Ka'bah. It is not Shari'ah to accept the help of geometric calculations and instruments. রাংSo where the old mosque exists, since the direction of its qibla is determined based on rough instructions. So it is important to follow the old qibla instead of determining its qibla anew. Mufti ‘Azam Muhammad Shafi Rah. In this context, after a detailed discussion, he wrote: In essence, it was not the policy of the predecessors to take the help of instruments and calculations in determining the direction of the Qibla. The Shari'ah has not instructed it either. In no case is it necessary. Rather, the rule of the predecessors is to follow the old mosques in the area. And where there is no old mosque, the direction of the Qibla will be determined by the stars and other thick patterns. (Zawahirul Fiqh, 1:27) However, in places where there is no old mosque, it would be permissible for a person skilled in the matter to take the help of instruments and geometric calculations. However, the condition is that the qibla determined with the help of public observation of the moon, sun and stars should not be in conflict with it. In case of Khilafah, the first qibla will be ignored and the second will remain in force. All these are mentioned in Fatawa Shami 1: 430. If in the light of the above detailed discussion one thinks about the direction of the Qibla of the inhabitants of North America and Canada, then surely their Qibla will be in the south-east corner. There are multiple reasons for this. (1) The book Ahl al-Haqq in Risalaye Tasbeeh mentions that the migration and settlement of Muslims in North America started from the end of the first century AH and the mihrabs of the mosques and Eidgahs were on the east-south side till the early 1960s. (2) Since Mecca is a few degrees south of Tropic of Cancer, North America is several degrees north of Tropic of Cancer, so the orbit of the Sun proves that the Qibla direction of North Americans must be in the south-east corner. (3) The strongest document in determining the direction near Fuqahad is the constant star. Since the constant star is visible high enough in North America i.e. along the head. And in Makkah Sharif that star stays down enough to the north. Therefore, it also means that North America is located comparatively north of Mecca. And the wind to the west is obvious. So for North Americans, the direction of the Qibla must be south-east. (Ahl al-Haqq 12 in the picture) Many say North America is the qibla ত্ত northeast. In our view, this is not correct. Because, as proof of this, they base the distance on geometry and geometry. Which is against the rules of Akbar and contrary to the image of Shariat. Moreover, the qibla of North America is a big mistake in saying northeast, in that sense the qibla of both North America and South America becomes one. But it is impossible. This is because it is self-evident that the qibla of South America, such as Argentina, is to the northeast, and the qibla of Central America is to the east. Now if the qibla of North America is also on the north-east side, then the qibla on both the north-south sides is on one side, which is definitely wrong. To get rid of this mistake, the qibla of North America must be on the south-east side. So that there is a difference between the north and the south. However, if the direction of their Qibla is within 45 degrees from the correct Qibla, even though it is not the Sahih Qibla of North America, then the prayer will become Sahih if the prayer is performed in that direction. If it is more than 45 degrees, the prayer will not be valid. This is our tahkeek. It is better for other ulama of the world to analyze this matter. Note that our discussion so far applies to cities other than Alaska. Because, if the line of zero point is observed directly on the Kaaba Sharif instead of on London, then that is important for Muslims. The city of Alaska will then fall into the Eastern Hemisphere of the Earth. Therefore, the qibla of this city should be in the south-west. The claim of the Shari'a rule is that the Baitullah Sharif is the center of the earth. Therefore, Baitullah has to accept zero point in determining the direction. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): وِنَّ َوَّلَ بَيْتٍ وُضِعَ لِلنَّاسِ لَلَّذِي بِبَكَّةَ مُبَارَكًا وَهُدًى لِلْعَالَمِينَ Undoubtedly, the first house built for a believer is the Ka'bah. Which is located in Makkah and is a guide for people all over the world. (Surat al-Imran, 97) Thus in Bukhari Sharif, Yaman is named Yaman because it is located to the right of Kaaba Sharif. And Sham is named Sham because it is located to the left of the Kaaba. 7527286938
