The Surahs that the Prophet (peace be upon him) recited in the Fajr prayer are as follows: (a) Surah Qaf, Surah At-Takweer, Surah Kafirun, Surah Ikhlas, Surah Falaq and Surah Nas. He recited Surah Sijdah in the 1st rak'ah of Fajr prayer and Surah Ad-Dahr in the 2nd rak'ah. He used to recite Surah Jumu'ah and Surah Munafiqun. The surahs recited by the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) in the obligatory Zuhr prayer are as follows: The Surahs that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) recited in the obligatory Maghrib prayers are: Surah At-Tur, Surah Al-Mursalat, and Surah A'raf in two rak'ahs. Surah Kafirun in the 1st rak'ah and Surah Ikhlas in the 2nd rak'ah are also recited in the Maghrib prayer on Friday. The two Surahs were also recited in the Sunnah of Maghrib. There is a hadith quoting that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to recite Surah Taween during Isha. In another hadith, the Prophet (peace be upon him) instructed Hazrat Mu'adh Razi to recite Surah Wash Shams, Surah Waz Zuha, Surah Wal Lail and Surah Ala in Isha. Another hadith also mentions the recitation of Surah Ala in the first rak'ah of Vitr, Surah Kafirun in the second rak'ah and Surah Ikhlas in the third rak'ah. It is known that Sayyidul Mursalin (peace be upon him) recited Surah Al-Qamar and Surah Qaf on Jumu'ah and two Eids. According to another tradition, he used to recite Surah Al-Ala and Ghashiyah on two Eids and Jumu'ah. If Eid and Jumu'ah were on the same day, he would recite these two Surahs in both prayers. We must remember that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) is the narrator of the Shari'ah on behalf of Allaah. As such, he has the opportunity to do more or less the amount of Masnoon Qiraat and there is no difficulty in that.
