In the Qur'an, Allah forbids people to have a bad opinion without any evidence. Therefore, it is not permissible to have a bad idea about the ill-gotten gains of the worshipers without knowing for sure. On the contrary, in such cases, it is instructed in the hadith to have a good idea about the Muslims. Therefore, it would be permissible for the Imam to take a salary from the worshipers before knowing for sure that half or more of the worshipers' wealth is haraam. However, if an Imam knows for sure that half or most of the wealth of such a worshiper is earned in a haraam way, then the Imam will not accept salary, allowance and gift etc. from that worshiper. And if Imam Sahib is sure that more than half of the property of a particular worshiper is halal or he has a strong idea about it, then it will be permissible for him to accept salary or gift from him. 1438739263
