A. I am quoting a hadith about the significance of Ashura. Hazrat Abdullah bin Abbas. Narrated that after the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) migrated to Madinah, he saw that the Jews fasted on the day of Ashura. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) asked them the reason for fasting. Then they said, this is a glorious day. On this day Musa A. And let his people be saved. And Pharaoh and his party drowned. Since then Musa A. Thankfully he used to fast on this day. As such, we also fast. The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "We are more entitled to Musa than you." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) fasted himself and instructed others to fast. ' B. The day of Ashura is glorious. It has been narrated in the hadith that on this day Allah has accepted the repentance of one nation and will accept the repentance of others in the future as well. And if you fast on this day, the sins of the previous year will be forgiven. C. On this day Musa A. It is true that Pharaoh and his people were saved from Pharaoh and Pharaoh and his army drowned in the sea. This is clearly stated in the description of Sahih Bukhari in Part A of this answer.
