Question

We have heard from the scholars that it is sunnat to recite the Maghrib prayer from Kisar Mufassal. But the Imam of our mosque recited a very long kirat from outside. Is it right to read such a long kirat in the evening? 1921154945

For the Imam, reciting short qiraat in Maghrib prayer is proved by Hadith and Asr. Hazrat Abu Hurairah. He said, "The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to recite Mufassal in the Maghrib prayer in Kisar." (Sharhu Maanil Asar 1/156; In another tradition, Hazrat Umar. Abu Musa Ashari asked the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) to recite the Maghrib prayer from Kisare Mufassal (Sharhu Maanil Asar 1/156; Elaus Sunan 4/32) There is another tradition, Hazrat Abu Abdullah Munabihi rah. He said, "I came to Medina once during the caliphate of Abu Bakr." I realized Maghrib behind him. He recited Surah Al-Fatihah in the first two rak'ahs of Maghrib and one Surah each from Mufassal in Kisar. (Muwatta, Imam Malik p. 26; Elaus Sunan 4/39) Yahhaq Ibn Uthman rah. He said, "I saw 'Umar ibn' Abd al-'Aziz reciting the Mufassal in the Maghrib." (Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah 3/234) The suras from Surah Bayyinah to Nas are called Kisare Mufassal. So it is better to recite Maghrib prayer from Mufassal in Kesar. However, it has been narrated in the Sahih Hadith that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) sometimes recited Surah Tur, Surah Mursalat and other such great Surahs in the Maghrib prayer. Therefore, it will not be against the Sunnah to occasionally read outside the Mufassal in Kisar and more than the amount of Mufassal in Kisar. However, if the Imam falls outside the Mufassalat, he should pay attention to the condition of the worshipers and not make the recitation too long. Hazrat Abu Hurairah. In a hadith narrated from, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, ‘When one of you leads the prayer, let him shorten it. Because among them (Muktadis) there are weak, sick and old people. And when the prayer is offered alone, he can prolong it as much as he wishes. '(Sahih Bukhari 1/98) 7581548533
