Question
(A) In takbeer tahrima i.e. Allahu Akbar we usually tie our hands under the navel. But it is seen that some people tie their hands on the navel, those who tie their hands on the navel, will there be any harm in their prayers? (B) Shafi'i followers of madhhabs tie their hands along their chests. Did our Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) ever tie his hands to his chest? I would be happy to inform you if there is any authentic document about tying hands along the chest and below the navel. 4677357545

(A and b) There is a difference of opinion among the Imams about the Sunnah of tying the hands in prayer. According to Imam Abu Hanifa, it is Sunnah to tie one's hands under the navel in prayer. According to Imam Shafi'i, it is sunnat to tie the hands under the navel above the navel. And both deeds are proved by Hadith. Therefore, those who tie their hands under the chest above the navel will not be harmed in their prayers. So we should refrain from quarreling with each other or calling each other evil. However, the 'Amal' of Imam Abu Hanafi's Madhhab is proved by more than one Sahih. The reliability of its sanad is stronger than the hadith of tying the hands under the chest. Below are the documents of each madhhab. Documents of the Hanafi school: (1) Narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah. In prayer, one hand is placed under the navel and the other hand is placed on the chariot. (2) Abu Huzaifa. Narrated from, he said, Hazrat Ali. Irshad has said that it is sunnat in prayer to place one's hand under the navel. (Abu Dawood 1: 201) (3) Wael Ibn Hajar narrates from his father Hajar, he said, I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) placing his right hand on his left hand below the navel in prayer. (Ibn Abi Shaybah 1: 428) (4) Narrated from the famous Tabi'i Ibrahim Nakhai, he said, put the right hand under the navel on the left hand in prayer. (Ibn Abi Shaybah 1: 428) Documents of the Shafi'i school: (1) Narrated from Salman Ibn Musa Taus, he said that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to place his right hand on his left hand. Then he would tie both hands over his chest in prayer. (Abu Dawood) (2) Narrated Wa'il Ibn Hajar: He said: I prayed with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). He rests his right hand on Cena's left hand. 1898677967
