In the Qur'an, Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): “Successful are the believers who are humble in their prayers.” (Surat al-Muminun: 1-2) According to a hadith, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) saw a man playing with a beard while praying and said: If his heart was concentrated, his limbs would also be concentrated. (Musannaf Abdur Razzaq 2/273) Therefore, it is obligatory to refrain from moving hands and limbs without any special need during prayers.
